Beeswax - Sweet Annie's Essentials Ingredient Guide

Beeswax Sweet Annie's Essentials Ingredient Guide

Our Beeswax is rendered each September when we pull off the supers (the top frames that are made just for honey storage) during the honey harvest.

I always feel a little sad about taking the top layer of wax off the capped honey in the frames, but then I figure that is a much nicer way to harvest honey than destroying the entire hive-- as they used to in the old days!

After we separate the honey out from the wax and other bits and pieces, we simmer the wax and strain it two or three more times until it is finished.

That block of fragrant wax adds depth and stability to my products and makes me smile just a little bit more, knowing it came from right here at home.
